Uttam Kunwar
Uttam Kunwar (; 1938–1982) was a Nepalese literary journalist, critic, and writer. He served as an editor for '' Ruprekha'', one of the most popular literary magazine in Nepal, alongside Bal Mukunda Pandey. He won the Madan Puraskar in 1966 (2023 BS) for his book '' Srasta ra Sahitya'', an anthology of literary interviews. Biography He was born on 25 May 1938 (12 Jestha 1995 BS) in Chhetrapati, Kathmandu to father Janga Bahadur Kunwar and mother Bhagwati Kunwar. He obtained an IA degree in veterinary. He then ventured into the world of journalism. He worked as the editor of the Nepali literary magazine, Ruprekha. During his editorship, the magazine became widely popular. In 1966, he published '' Srasta ra Sahitya'', a book of literary interviews with prominent Nepali writers such as Bhupi Sherchan, Parijat (writer), Madhav Prasad Ghimire,etc. He conducted those interviews form 1961 to 1996. Chhetrapati
Chhetrapati ( Nepali: क्षेत्रपाटी) is a settlement at the old part of Kathmandu city lying between Thamel, Asan and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Subba Riddhi Bahadur Malla (; 1898–1968) was a Nepali writer. Malla was born on 8 December 1898 in Benaras, British India. His sons, Govinda Bahadur Malla and Bijaya Malla are also renowned writers. Nepali (; , ) is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Himalayas region of South Asia. It is the official, and most widely spoken, language of Nepal, where it also serves as a ''lingua franca''. Shankar Lamichhane ( ne, शङ्कर लामिछाने; 1928 – 1976) was a Nepalese essayist and short–story writer. He is best known for his Madan Puraskar–winning essay collection '' Abstract Chintan Pyaj''. Early life He was born on 17 March 1928 (5 Chaitra 1984 BS) to father Hari Prasad Lamichhane and mother Raj Kumari in Jaisidewal, Kathmandu. Due to poor condition of his parents, his mother decided to take him and his brother to Banaras. His brother died after reaching Banaras. His mother started working as a teacher in Banaras and raised him but she died about a decade later. Lamichhane then moved back to Kathmandu. Lamichhane completed I.Sc. from Tri-Chandra College in Kathmandu. Literary career Considered one of Nepal's foremost essayists of all times, Shankar Lamichhane wrote with a lyrical, musical tempo, unrestrained by the ponderous language that often mars the essays of his elders, peers or followers.
