Utah State Route 53
State Route 53 (SR-53) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah, connecting Interstate 15 (I-15) and I-84 with U.S. Route 89 (US-89) via Ogden's 24th Street. SR-53 was created in 1969 as a remnant of SR-37, which was truncated to its current length at that time. Route description SR-53 begins at exit 342 of I-15, and heads northeast of Pennsylvania Avenue before curving east into 24th Street. A viaduct built in about 1970 takes the road over the Weber River, the Union Pacific Railroad's Ogden Yard at the old Union Station, and SR-204 (Wall Avenue). Two blocks after SR-53 returns to ground level, it ends at US-89. U.S. Route 89 (US 89) in the U.S. state of Utah is a north-south United States Highway spanning more than through the central part of the state, making it the longest road in Utah. Between Provo and Brigham City, US-89 serves as a local road, paralleling (and occasionally concurring with) Interstate 15, but the portions from Arizona north to Provo and Brigham City northeast to Wyoming serve separate corridors. State Route 39 (SR-39) is a state highway in northern Utah connecting Ogden to Woodruff via Ogden Canyon and Huntsville. The highway is on 12th Street in Ogden and the Ogden River Scenic Byway through Ogden Canyon. The route is over sixty-seven miles long. Prior to 1964, SR-39 was routed along 24th Street and Harrison Boulevard in Ogden. A change in the route moved the route north to 12th Street.
