Ursa Creek
Ursa Creek is a stream in northwest Adams County, Illinois and is a tributary of the Mississippi River. The stream headwaters arise at southeast of the community of Mendon adjacent to the west side of Illinois Route 336 and it flows west passing south of Mendon to pass under Illinois Route 96 just south of the community of Ursa. It continues to the west to enter the Mississippi floodplain at where it is channelized as the Rock and Ursa Creek Diversion Channel to enter the Mississippi across from La Grange, Missouri La Grange is a city in Lewis County, Missouri, United States. Mendon is a village in Adams County, Illinois, United States. The population was 872 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Quincy, IL– MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The village is named after Mendon, Massachusetts. History Mendon was platted in 1833 under the name of Fairfield. However, there was another Fairfield in Illinois, so the village name was changed to Mendon. Geography Mendon is located at (40.088241, -91.284458). Illinois Route 336
Illinois Route 336 (IL 336, also known as the Thomas A. Oakley Memorial Highway) is a four-lane freeway/expressway combination that serves western Illinois. It is also used by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) as a part of Federal-Aid Primary Highway 315 (FAP315) to refer to a future project connecting the cities of Quincy and Peoria via underserved Macomb. As of early 2018, the highway extends north from its starting point in Fowler (near Quincy) where U.S. Route 24 (US 24) and Interstate 172 (I-172) intersect, to US 67 just north of Macomb. Illinois Route 96 (IL 96) is a north–south state highway in far western Illinois. It runs from IL 100 in Kampsville, not far from a ferry crossing across the Illinois River, to IL 94 north of Terre Haute. Route description Illinois 96 follows much of the Great River Road in Illinois north from Kampsville, where it runs west to the Mississippi River and then turns north, passing U.S. Route 54 at a rural intersection and Interstate 72 at an old terminus near Kinderhook. It overlaps Illinois Route 106 west of Kinderhook and then runs parallel to Illinois Route 57 into Quincy. La Grange, Missouri
La Grange is a city in Lewis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 825 at the 2020 census. Since the 1960 census, the population has been dwindling. It is part of the Quincy, IL–MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. History La Grange was founded in 1830. A post office called La Grange has been in operation since 1833. In 1885, the Supreme Court ruled against the city in '' Cole v. La Grange''. The court found that the city could only use eminent domain powers for public purposes and not to specifically benefit the La Grange Iron and Steel Company.
