Urrieles Massif
The Urrieles Massif or the Central Massif is a mountainous massif in the north of Spain, one of the three massifs that make up the Picos de Europa, and in turn, one of the stretches of the Cantabrian Massif belonging to the Cantabrian Mountains, Cantabrian Range. The other two massifs are the Cornión and Ándara. Of the three, it is the tallest. Administratively, it belongs to the autonomous communities of the Principality of Asturias, Cantabria, and Castilla y León. Geography Located between the valleys carved by the rivers Cares and Duje is the Central Massif, without doubt one of the most rugged and vertical of the Picos de Europa. Possessing the greatest height of the three massifs, as 38 of its summits rise above 2,500 meters, 14 of them being over 2,600 meters. Picos De Europa
The Picos de Europa ("Peaks of Europe", also the Picos) are a mountain range extending for about , forming part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain. The range is situated in the Autonomous Communities of Asturias, Cantabria and Castile and León. The highest peak is Torre de Cerredo, at an elevation of (8,690 ft). Name A widely accepted origin for the name is that they were the first sight of Europe for ships arriving from the Americas. The name can be traced to Lucio Marineo Sículo, who mentioned the '' Rupes Europae'' in 1530. Ambrosio Morales, chronist of Felipe II of Spain, mentions the ''Montañas de Europa'' in 1572. Torrecerredo Y Cabrones
Torre Cerredo, also called Torrecerredo or Torre de Cerredo ( Asturian: ''La Torre Cerréu''), is the highest peak of the Cantabrian Mountains, northern Spain. With a prominence of 1,931 m, it is an ultra-prominent peak and the third most prominent peak of the Iberian Peninsula. Geography The mountain has an elevation of 2,650 metres, making it the highest peak of the Picos de Europa and the Cantabrian Mountains. Torre Cerredo is located on the central massif of the Picos de Europa, the Urrieles Massif, on the limits of the provinces Asturias and León. Its summit towers 2,200 metres over the river Cares and offers wide views over the western massif and the Cares' tributaries. Triple Summit
A double summit, double peak, twin summit, or twin peak refers to a mountain or hill that has two summits, separated by a col or saddle. One well-known double summit is Austria’s highest mountain, the Großglockner, where the main summit of the Großglockner is separated from that of the Kleinglockner by the Glocknerscharte col in the area of a geological fault. Naranjo De Bulnes
The Naranjo de Bulnes (known as Picu Urriellu in Asturian) is a limestone peak dating from the Paleozoic Era, located in the Macizo Central region of the Picos de Europa, Asturias (Spain). Its name ''Picu Urriellu'' is believed to be derived from the term ''Los Urrieles'', which is used to describe the Macizo Central. Naranjo de Bulnes is part of the Cabrales region of Asturias, and lies within the Picos de Europa National Park. The first written reference to "Picu Urriellu" as "Naranjo de Bulnes" is credited to the German geologist and engineer, Wilhelm Schulz, who, in 1855, published the first topographic and geological map of Asturias. As far as is known the etymology of this name is not clear, because, historically, the local inhabitants always referred to the mountain as "Picu Urriellu".
