David Lauchlan Urquhart, Baron Tayside OBE (13 September 1912 - 12 March 1975) was a Scottish business man and life peer. Early life David Urquhart attended the Harris Academy in Dundee, Scotland until 1930. Career Urquhart became chairman and managing director of the Don Brothers, Buist and Company, an established jute and linen mill which was the largest employer in Forfar. He was also vice president of the Tayside Area Consultative Committee for Economic Planning. During the government of prime minister Harold Wilson, Urquhart became a member of the Labour Party in 1967 and was created life peer with the title Baron Tayside of Queens Well in the Royal Burgh of Forfar and County of Angus on 15 September 1967. Anthony Morse Urquhart, LL.D. (April 9, 1934 – January 26, 2022) was a Canadian painter. He was recognized in the late 1950s and early 1960s as one of Canada's pioneering abstractionists, having been variously linked with the Toronto painters associated with The Isaacs Gallery and The Heart of London group that included Jack Chambers, Greg Curnoe and Murray Favro. Robert Urquhart (16 October 1922 – 21 March 1995) was a Scottish character actor who worked on the stage, for British television, and in film. His breakthrough role was Paul Krempe in ''The Curse of Frankenstein'' in 1957, along with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Early life Urquhart was born in Ullapool, Scotland. His father was a sailor with the Merchant Navy. He was educated at George Heriot's School in Edinburgh. After school, he entered the Merchant Navy and went to Australia, New Zealand, South America, and South Africa as an apprentice before earning third mate's papers. He continued his service during World War II. In 1942, he left the Merchant Navy after his ship was torpedoed three times and worked in Glasgow's docklands. Murray McNeel Caird Urquhart (24 April 1880 – 12 April 1972), commonly known as Murray Urquhart, was a Scottish painter and book illustrator. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
