Urgent (Canadian Band)
Urgent was a Canadian rock band formed in 1982 in Toronto, Ontario. History Sharing the name of a band from New York, the Canadian band Urgent was from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and formed when drummer Kim Hunt left the band Zon in 1982 and connected with bassist Doug Baynham and guitarist Wayne Siberry. With Baynham also handling the majority of the vocal duties, they wrote and practiced daily, practically living in the studio for three months. Keyboardist John McGoldrick was added for touring purposes and they quickly established themselves as one of the hotter new heavy acts on the Ontario circuit, and it wasn't long before they were playing shows across the country – catching the attention of Epic Records execs along the way. They submitted a three-song demo tape to Epic Records and signed a deal in the spring of 1983. Teenage Head (band)
Teenage Head is a Canadian punk rock group from Hamilton, Ontario, that was popular in Canada during the early 1980s. The group was formed in Hamilton, Ontario in 1975, by Frankie Venom (Frank Kerr), Gord Lewis, Steve Mahon, and Nick Stipanitz. Venom died on October 15, 2008. Lewis died August 7, 2022. The band's name is a reference to The Flaming Groovies' 1971 album '' Teenage Head'', which Gord Lewis had seen advertised in a music magazine but not heard, and decided that he, one day, would form a band with that name. History Teenage Head was formed in 1975 when the band members were students at Westdale High School in Hamilton. The original lineup featured Gord Lewis on guitar, Steve Park on guitar, Frankie Venom on drums and Dave Desroches on vocals. Arnold Lanni
Arnold David Lanni (born May 4, 1956) is a Canadian record producer and former member of Frōzen Ghōst and Sheriff. He wrote Sheriff's most successful song, " When I'm with You." History Lanni was a founding member of Canadian rock band Sheriff in 1979. The band would only release one album (their 1982 self-titled effort, which included "When I'm with You" and another minor hit, "You Remind Me") before breaking up in 1985. Sheriff members Lanni and Wolf Hassel then formed Frozen Ghost, which existed 1985 to 1993. Lanni was a guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist for this project. In 2000 Lanni was nominated as producer of the year at the Juno Awards. Frōzen Ghōst was a Canadian rock band formed in 1985 in Toronto by Arnold Lanni and Wolf Hassel, who were previously with the band Sheriff. The band received a Juno Award for " Most Promising Group of the Year" in 1987. The group placed five songs in the Canadian top 40 between 1987 and 1992, including "Should I See" and "Head Over Heels". "Should I See", an anti-censorship song, also became a minor hit in the United States, reaching number 69 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles in 1987. The video for that song was nominated at the 1987 Juno Awards for " Best Video of the Year". Sheriff was a Canadian rock band in the early and mid 1980s, best known for their 1982 song " When I'm with You" which became a ''Billboard'' No. 1 hit upon re-release in early 1989. Biography The band was formed in 1979 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and consisted of vocalist Freddy Curci, guitarist Steve DeMarchi, keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Arnold Lanni, bassist Wolf Hassel and drummer Rob Elliott. The band's only full-length release was a self-titled 1982 album, that featured a Canadian Top 40 hit, "You Remind Me" as well as their most famous song, "When I'm with You", which reached No. 8 in Canada and No. 61 in the United States in 1983.
