''Urena'' is the genus of plants, which grow in various tropical and subtropical areas worldwide. Some view the plant as a weed, but others make use of its fiber for various purposes. The leaves and flowers are also a famine food in Africa. Its seeds are spread by animals. Fibers obtained from it are used for making coffee sacks in Brazil. José Miguel Ureña Rodriguez (born September 12, 1991) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played MLB for the Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, and Milwaukee Brewers. Career Minor leagues Ureña grew up in the Dominican Republic. The Marlins signed him on August 28, 2009, and he played for two seasons with the Dominican Summer League Marlins. In 2011, he played in short season Single-A with the Jamestown Jammers, posting a 4.33 ERA in 15 starts. Rodrigo Andrés Ureña Reyes (born 1 March 1993) is a Chilean footballer who plays for Peruvian Liga 1 club Universitario de Deportes as a midfielder. Juan Rafael Estrella Ureña (born Santiago de los Caballeros, November 10, 1889 – May 25, 1945) was a Dominican politician and lawyer. Pedro Henríquez Ureña (June 29, 1884 – May 11, 1946) was a Dominican essayist, philosopher, humanist, philologist and literary critic. Biography Early works Pedro Henríquez Ureña was born in Santo Domingo, the third of four siblings. Henríquez's father was Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal, a doctor and politician who was also an intellectual who maintained permanent contact with the most important representatives of the Hispanic Modernism movements from the early 20th century. Henríquez Carvajal would become president of the Republic for a brief period in 1916, before the American occupation. He descended from Jews who immigrated in the 19th century from Curaçao. Leopoldo Enrique García-Alas y Ureña (25 April 1852 – 13 June 1901), also known as Clarín, was a Spanish realist novelist born in Zamora.
