Urdu News is now an independent news website with the focus on Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and other parts of the globe. It was first daily Urdu newspaper published in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and also in other Arab countries. History and ownership ''Urdu News'' was launched by Hisham Hafiz in Jeddah in September 1994 as a weekly newspaper. Later, it became a daily paper. The paper is owned by Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG). Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG) (also known as the Saudi Media Group) is a Saudi joint stock company registered in Riyadh. The group mainly publishes, prints and distributes various publications. The company operates in Saudi Arabia where there are no independent media. The company has close ties to the Mohammed bin Salman government in Saudi Arabia. Its closeness to the government of Saudi Arabia has led it to be considered an outlet for the government in the west, particularly in the United Kingdom. In April 2022, SRMG announced its new headquarters in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD). Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia are either Pakistani people who live in Saudi Arabia even though having been born outside Saudi Arabia or are Saudi Arabian-born, but have Pakistani roots.
