The Urdaibai line ( eu, Urdaibaiko linea, es, Línea de Urdaibai), also known as the Amorebieta-Bermeo railway ( eu, Amorebieta-Bermeo trenbidea, es, Ferrocarril Amorebieta-Bermeo) is a mostly single-track branchline in Biscay, Basque Country. Euskotren 200 Series
The Euskotren 200 series is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by Euskotren in the Basque Country, Spain from 1986 to 2018. History The trains were ordered by Euskotren in 1983, with the first unit being delivered in 1985. They entered service on 1 February 1986, originally in the Bilbao-Plentzia line, where they replaced the rolling stock inherited from FTS. The trains had been intended for use in the Bilbao metro (which took over most of the Bilbao-Plentzia railway), but ultimately new trains were built for it. Thus, with the opening of the metro in 1995, the trains were transferred to the Txorierri, Urdaibai and Bilbao-San Sebastián lines. The trains were built entirely in the Basque Country: the motor cars by CAF in Beasain, the non-powered cars by Babcock & Wilcox in Sestao and the electrical equipment by Westingouse in Erandio. FEVE 3500 Series
The FEVE 3500 series is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by Renfe Feve in Spain. The first units entered service in the Basque Country in 1977, these trains were later transferred to Euskotren, where they were known as the Euskotren 3500 series. Euskotren retired its last 3500 trains in 2013, but some units are still in service in Asturias. History A total of 30 trains were ordered FEVE in 1977, half of them intended for use in the Basque Country, while the other half would be assigned to Asturias and Cantabria. Euskotren, formally known as Basque Railways ( eu, Eusko Trenbideak, es, Ferrocarriles Vascos), is a public railway company controlled by the Basque Government and officially established in 1982 to operate several narrow gauge railways inside the autonomous community of the Basque Country, under the terms of the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country. Amorebieta Geralekua Station
is a railway station in Amorebieta-Etxano, Basque Country, Spain. It is owned by Euskal Trenbide Sarea and operated by Euskotren. It lies on the Urdaibai line. History A halt had existed in the location of the current station at least before the civil war, but it was closed on an unknown date. The current station opened in 1973, together with the chord that allowed trains from Bilbao to enter the Urdaibai line directly from the Bilbao-San Sebastián line without the need to reverse at Amorebieta station. Renfe Feve is a division of state-owned Spanish railway company Renfe Operadora. It operates most of Spain's of railway.
