Kazimierz Urbanik
Kazimierz Urbanik (February 5, 1930 – May 29, 2005) was a prominent member of the Polish School of Mathematics. He founded the journal ''Probability and Mathematical Statistics'' and served as Rector (academia), rector of the University of Wrocław. Early life and education Urbanik was born in Kremenets, Krzemieniec and studied at the lyceum there. During World War II the town came under Soviet control, and was annexed by Ukraine; after the war, Urbanik's family moved to Brzeg, which remained Polish. Beginning in 1948, Urbanik studied mathematics and physics at the University of Wrocław, where he was mentored by Hugo Steinhaus and Edward Marczewski. He completed a degree in 1952, and began teaching at the university while continuing his studies under Marczewski, researching general topology, measure theory, and probability theory. Mária Urbanik
Mária Rosza-Urbanik (born 12 February 1967 in Törökszentmiklós, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok) is a retired race walker for Hungary who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992. She married Sándor Urbanik, a fellow Hungarian race walker. Urbanik represented Hungary at six consecutive editions of the World Athletics Championships, from 1991 to 1999, with her best result being seventh place at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics. She also competed at eight straight editions of the IAAF World Race Walking Cup, making her debut in 1987 and her final appearance in 2002. She was a silver medallist over 10 km at the 1998 European Race Walking Cup. Her best placing at a major outdoor competition was fourth, in the 10 km walk at the 1998 European Athletics Championships.

Sándor Urbanik (born 15 December 1964 in Esztergom) is a retired male race walker from Hungary. He competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1988. He is married to fellow Hungarian race walker Mária Urbanik. He was a bronze medallist in the 5000 m walk at the 1988 European Athletics Indoor Championships, held in his native Hungary. He represented Hungary at seven consecutive editions of the World Athletics Championships, from 1987 to 2001, with his best finish being tenth place at the 1993 World Championships in Athletics. He is the Hungarian national record holder in several events, including the 10 km, 15 km, 20 km, 30 km and 35 km road distances, the hour walk (reaching 14,186 m), and also the indoor 5000 m distance with 18:34.77 minutes.
