Upshur County, Texas
Upshur County is a county located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,892. The county seat is Gilmer. The county is named for Abel P. Upshur, who was U.S. Secretary of State during President John Tyler's administration. Upshur County is part of the Longview, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area, as well as the Longview–Marshall, TX Combined Statistical Area. History Humans have inhabited what is now Upshur County since at least 10,000 years ago. The Caddoan people lived in this area, but were driven out about 1750, probably due to losses from new infectious diseases carried chronically by Europeans. Later, some Cherokee migrated to the area from their territories in the Southeast – Georgia and Alabama. Upshur County is a county in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,816. Its county seat is Buckhannon. The county was formed in 1851 from Randolph, Barbour, and Lewis counties and named for Abel Parker Upshur, a distinguished statesman and jurist of Virginia. Upshur served as United States Secretary of State and Secretary of the Navy under President John Tyler. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and 0.1 square mile (0.26 km2) (0.03%) is water. Franklin Upshur
Franklin Upshur (November 27, 1875 – August 16, 1965) was an American politician and lawyer. He served in the Maryland House of Delegates in 1924 and as state's attorney of Worcester County, Maryland from 1947 to 1951. Early life Franklin Upshur was born on November 27, 1875, in Snow Hill, Maryland to Emma (née Franklin) and George M. Upshur. His grandfather was John Rankin Franklin. He graduated from Princeton University in 1897 and he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1899. Career Around 1900, Upshur became an assistant state's attorney in Baltimore. John Henry Upshur (5 December 1823 – 30 May 1917) was an admiral in the United States Navy who served during the Mexican–American War and the American Civil War. Early life Upshur—born John Henry Nottingham in Northampton County, Virginia December 5, 1823 changed his name at the request of his mother to her maiden name ''Upshur'' gratifying her wish, as the Upshur family was conspicuous in naval annals. He was appointed a midshipman on 4 November 1841 and initially served at sea with the Mediterranean Squadron. During the war with Mexico, Upshur was assigned to ''St. Mary's'' as that brig participated in operations against Tampico. Survival horror is a subgenre of survival of the players as the game tries to frighten them with either horror graphics or scary ambience. Although combat can be part of the gameplay, the player is made to feel less in control than in typical action games through limited ammunition or weapons, health, speed and vision, or through various obstructions of the player's interaction with the game mechanics. The player is also challenged to find items that unlock the path to new areas and solve puzzles to proceed in the game. Games make use of strong horror themes, like dark mazelike environments and unexpected attacks from enemies.
