Uppland Artillery Regiment
Uppland Artillery Regiment ( sv, Upplands artilleriregemente), designation A 5, was a Swedish Army artillery unit which operated between 1894 and 1927. The unit was based in Uppsala Garrison in Uppsala, Sweden. History Uppland Artillery Regiment or as it was originally called, 2nd Svea Artillery Regiment, was raised on 1 October 1894 by a amalgamation of two batteries from Svea Artillery Regiment, 1st Svea Artillery Regiment and two from Wendes Artillery Regiment. The 2nd Svea Artillery Regiment remained in Stockholm until 1901, when it was relocated to Stockholmsvägen, since the 1960s known as Dag Hammarskjölds väg, in Uppsala. In order to clarify the regiment's connection to the city, on 8 August 1904, the new name Upplands Artillery Regiment was awarded to the regiment. The Swedish Armed Forces ( sv, Försvarsmakten, "the Defense Force") is the government agency that forms the armed forces of Sweden, tasked with the defense of the country as well as with promoting Sweden's wider interests, supporting international peacekeeping, and providing humanitarian aid. Life Guards Of Horse
Life Guards of Horse ( sv, Livgardet till häst, K 1) was a Swedish Army cavalry regiment, first raised in 1770. It saw service for two centuries, before being amalgamated with the Life Regiment Dragoons (K 2) to form the Life Regiment of Horse (K 1) in 1928. History The regiment was raised on 20 February 1770 by Jacob Magnus Sprengtporten as the Finnish Light Dragoon Corps (''Finska lätta dragonkåren''). The unit was set up as a regular dragoon corps in Nyland County, Finland as a reinforcement of the border guard along the Kymmene River. The corps then consisted of 150 men and was based in Borgå. In 1773 the corps was increased to 250 men (5 squadrons), and was given the name Life Guards of Horse (''Livgardet till häst'') and was based partly in Stockholm, partly in Borgå, Finland. Norrbotten Artillery Corps
Norrbotten Artillery Corps ( sv, Norrbottens artillerikår), designation A 5, was a Swedish Army artillery unit which operated between 1928 and 1951. The unit was based in Boden Garrison in Boden, Sweden. History On 1 April 1910, the Norrbotten Artillery Regiment's Detachment in Boden (A 4 B) was raised, and on 6 June 1910, the detachment was placed to Boden. The detachment consisted of III (Artillery) Division of Norrland Artillery Regiment (A 4). Through the Defence Act of 1925, it was decided to separate the division from Norrland Artillery Regiment (A 4), to form an independent unit. On 31 December 1927, the detachment was disbanded, and on 1 January 1928, the Norrbotten Artillery Corps (A 5) was raised as a horse field artillery corps.
