Upper Warlingham Railway Station
Upper Warlingham railway station is on the Oxted line serving Warlingham and Whyteleafe in Surrey, England. It is in Travelcard Zone 6, from , although off peak trains run to and from . The station is managed by Southern. Description Train services are provided by Southern with no special services – the station is on the Oxted Line. The station is approximately 150m (geographically) from Whyteleafe railway station, to the north-west, which is on a nearby mainly parallel and shorter line from London, the Caterham Line. On the London-bound platform, there is a staffed ticket office (attended for most of the day). Outside the station is a self-service passenger-operated ticket machine with cash and contactless payments. There is a card only ticket machine located on platform 2. Southern is the brand name used by the Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) train operating company on the Southern routes of the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise in England. Whyteleafe
Whyteleafe is a village in the district of Tandridge, Surrey, England, with a few streets falling inside the London Borough of Croydon. The village, in a dry valley of the North Downs, has three railway stations (on two parallel lines). Neighbouring villages and towns include Woldingham, Caterham, Coulsdon, Warlingham, and Kenley. To the west are Kenley Aerodrome, Kenley Common (owned by the Corporation), Coxes Wood, and Blize Wood. To the east are Riddlesdown, the Dobbin and Marden Park. The churchyard contains graves of airmen who died during WWII, stationed at RAF Kenley nearby. The village forms part of the Greater London Built-up Area. Tandridge District
Tandridge is a local government district in east Surrey, England. Its council is based in Oxted, although the largest settlement is Caterham; other notable settlements include Warlingham, Godstone and Lingfield. In mid-2019, the district had an estimated population of 88,129. Whyteleafe railway station serves the village of Whyteleafe right on the border of Greater London and Surrey, England. It is from . The station and all trains serving it are operated by Southern, and it is on the Caterham Line. It is a short walk from Upper Warlingham railway station on the Oxted Line, which runs parallel to the Caterham Line for most of its length. Warlingham is a village in the Tandridge district of Surrey, England, south of the centre of London and east of the county town, Guildford. Warlingham is the centre of a civil parish that includes Hamsey Green, a contiguous, smaller settlement to the north. Caterham is the nearest town, to the southwest. Caterham Line
The Caterham line is a railway branch line running from Caterham in Surrey to Purley in South London. It operates as a commuter service to London. The line was opened by local promoters as the Caterham Railway in 1856 primarily to convey firestone from quarries south of Caterham. There was intense rivalry and suspicion between the two main line railway companies at Purley, the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LBSCR) and the South Eastern Railway (SER), and this led to both of them obstructing successful operation of the Caterham Railway. In any case the local population was sparse and agricultural in character, and the Caterham Railway was loss-making. It was acquired by the SER in 1859, but it was not until the latter years of the nineteenth century that residential development made the commercial situation of the line more buoyant. Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) is a train operating company that operates the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) rail franchise in England.
