Upper Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey
Upper Pittsgrove Township is a township in Salem County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 3,505, reflecting an increase of 37 (+1.1%) from the 3,468 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 328 (+10.4%) from the 3,140 counted in the 1990 Census. Upper Pittsgrove Township was incorporated on March 10, 1846, from portions of Pittsgrove Township. A sending/receiving relationship is one in which a public school district sends some or all of its students to attend the schools of another district. This is often done to achieve costs savings in smaller districts or continues after districts have grown as part of a historical relationship. The term is used in primary and secondary education in the states of New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania in the United States, although the concept exists in other states. At times, the sending district may be granted representation on the receiving district's board of education.
