Upper Granite Canyon Patrol Cabin
The Upper Granite Canyon Patrol Cabin was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps about 1935. The log structure is located in the extreme southwest backcountry of Grand Teton National Park. The cabin was built according to a standard design for such structures, in the National Park Service Rustic style. The Moran Bay Patrol Cabin is similar. The patrol cabin is a one-story log cabin on a log sill foundation using logs. The cabin is square in plan with asphalt roll roofing on the gabled roof. The door retains its original wrought iron hardware. The interior is floored with boards, cut to a length of to fit a pack saddle. The interior logs are trimmed with split-pole chinking. The ceiling is open, with exposed log framing. The Upper Granite Canyon Patrol Cabin was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 19, 1998. Moose, Wyoming
Moose is an unincorporated community in Teton County, Wyoming, in the Jackson Hole valley. It has a US Post Office, with the zip code of 83012. The town is located within Grand Teton National Park along the banks of the Snake River. It is populated mostly by families with inholdings within the borders of the park. The name Moose can also refer to the small community of Park Service houses located immediately behind administration offices. These houses are exclusively inhabited by Park Service employees and their families. A pack saddle is any device designed to be secured on the back of a horse, mule, or other working animal so it can carry heavy loads such as luggage, firewood, small cannons, or other things too heavy to be carried by humans.
