Upper-division College
An upper division college or university is one that requires applicants to have already completed their first two years of undergraduate study at another institution. These institutions traces their roots to educational ideas put forward in the late 19th and early 20th century. They were developed primarily in the United States during the 1960s in response to the growing number of community college students seeking to continue their education. Harper and David Starr Jordan sought to separate the preparatory portion of college studies from "real" university work undertaken in the third and fourth years of study. Garfield Senior College
Lake Erie College is a private liberal arts college in Painesville, Ohio. Founded in 1856 as a female seminary, the college converted to a coeducational institution in 1985. Concordia Senior College
Concordia Senior College was a liberal arts college located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and affiliated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). It was founded in 1957 and closed in 1977. The senior college was a new type of institution for the LCMS. It provided future pastors with training before they attended a seminary, during their third and fourth undergraduate years of college. Concordia Senior College was by-and-large an all-men's institution with no female faculty, although there were a small number of female students who were housed in a separate dormitory. In 1977, the function of Concordia Senior College was transferred to other LCMS colleges, the Concordia University System.
