Upfield Holdings B.V. is a Dutch food company owning multiple brands of margarine, food spreads, and plant-based foods, including Flora and Blue Band. It states that it is the largest plant-based consumer packaged goods company in the world, operating in 95 countries. Upfield was spun off from Unilever and purchased by investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) in 2018 for US$8.04 billion. History Margarine was one of the first products sold by the company that would merge into Unilever. Antoon Jurgens of Oss, Netherlands, acquired the patent for making margarine from its inventor Hippolyte Mège-Mouriès in 1871. Upfield, Victoria
Upfield is a small residential and industrial locality 17 km away from the central business district in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia situated in the suburb of Campbellfield. It is in the local government area of the City of Hume. The name is descriptive of the area's open country. In 1956 the Ford motor car factory was begun on land between the Hume Highway and the railway line from Coburg to Somerton (now Roxburgh Park). The State Government constructed a railway station (Upfield), and the line was electrified in 1959. South of the Ford factory housing was built and a high school opened in 1968. The Campbellfield Primary School was nearby, but another primary school (Upfield) was opened in 1970 and superseded the Campbellfield site in 1992. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Campbellfield, and it opened on 8 October 1889 as North Campbellfield. Upfield Railway Line
The Upfield railway line is a commuter rail service operating between Flinders Street in the Melbourne central business district through Melbourne's northern suburbs including West Melbourne, North Melbourne, Parkville, Brunswick, Coburg, Coburg North, Hadfield, Glenroy and Coolaroo. The future of the Upfield line was in serious doubt in the late 1980s and early 1990s with proposals for the line to be converted into a light rail line or even closure. However, the future of the line was secured in 1995 with the upgrading of the signalling, closure or upgrade of the numerous level crossings, and duplication of the track between Fawkner and Gowrie. Infrastructure The line is double track as far as Gowrie station, with the final section to Upfield station being single track. __NOTOC__ The Upfield Shared Path is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows Upfield railway line through the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It stretches from Princes Park, through Brunswick and Coburg, to Box Forest Road, Fawkner, just south of Gowrie railway station. It was originally opened in the late 1980s. Missing links have been progressively filled with the work between Hope Street and Anstey railway station in Brunswick completed in August 2002. A section between Reynard and O'Hea Streets in Coburg with a signalled crossing at Bell Street was completed by 2006 by City of Moreland Council and VicRoads.
