Slaughter is an American glam metal band formed in Las Vegas by lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum. The band reached stardom in 1990 with their first album ''Stick It to Ya'', which spawned several hit singles including " Up All Night", "Spend My Life", "Mad About You" and "Fly to the Angels.” The album reached double platinum status in the United States. History Slaughter formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in late 1988, out of the ashes of lead vocalist Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum's previous band, Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Blas Elias (born August 18, 1967) is the drummer of the glam metal band Slaughter. He also drums for the Las Vegas production of Blue Man Group. He has toured with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra since 2017. He has been a rotating cast member of the Las Vegas production show ''Raiding the Rock Vault''. In 2019 he returned to Slaughter as a full-time drummer. Elias also starred in the 2001 movie Rock Star. Biography Blas Elias (née Blas Elias Gomez) is also an actor, having appeared in the movie ''Rock Star'' (2001). Elias played drummer Donny Johnson, of the fictional Steel Dragon tribute band, Blood Pollution. Timothy Patrick Kelly (January 13, 1963 – February 5, 1998) was an American guitarist for the band Slaughter. Career Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Kelly was a self-taught guitar player and began his music career around the sixth grade. He was inspired by other guitarists such as Rick Derringer and Peter Frampton. He played in a few bands during his career which included Hellion, NEWHAVEN, and Allegiance (that was fronted by his brother Bryan Kelly) along with other bands. After no real commercial success with these bands, he was chosen as guitarist for the group Slaughter which was formed in the fall of 1988. With Slaughter, Kelly had many writing credits. On the first album of the band '' Stick It to Ya'', he wrote and performed an instrumental piece called "Thinking of June" which he dedicated to his sister who died in 1982. It sold over 2 million copies and became one of the biggest albums of 1990. "Up All Night"(#27), "Fly to the Angels"(#19) & "Spend My Life"(#39) all charted in the Top 40 on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 and their videos were in solid rotations on the various music television outlets. Glam metal (also known as hair metal or pop metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, upbeat rock anthems, and slow power ballads.
