''Untilted'' is the eighth studio album by the United Kingdom, British Intelligent dance music, IDM duo Autechre. The record was released 18 April 2005 in Europe and 19 April 2005 in North America by Warp Records, while Beat Records released it in Japan on 9 April 2005. The album charted at #199 in the UK Albums Chart, UK. The cover art for the album was created by Alex Rutterford. A phony version of the album was leaked on file sharing networks simultaneously with the actual album's promotional leak. It became so widespread that Sean Booth commented in an interview: "The more fakes the merrier, we’ve released fakes ourselves, but not this time." Quaristice
''Quaristice'' is the ninth studio album by British electronic music duo Autechre, initially released on 29 January 2008 by Warp Records. It was made available for download via bleep.com in FLAC and MP3 format on 29 January 2008 and then received a physical release on 3 March 2008. Production Autechre members Rob Brown and Sean Booth changed their approach for ''Quaristice'', moving from a more deliberate studio process to a more spontaneous and "jam session" style of songwriting, approximately doubling the usual number of tracks per album to twenty. Booth said in a March 2008 interview, "a lot of the album tracks are edited-down jams; some of them hour-long pieces we made in a day and then worked them down ... Alex Rutterford
Alex Rutterford is a British director and graphic designer working mostly on music videos. Rutterford studied graphic design at the Croydon School of Art and graduated in 1991. He started his professional career by designing vernacular graphics for sets of films such as Judge Dredd. He then worked as an art director and designer, doing clothing design, logos, and album covers (for record labels such as Warp Records, One Little Indian Records, Parlophone, Sony Music). He also did computer modelling, animation and photo manipulation. He was a member of the design team lost in space where he worked as CG artist and creative director. His most well-known works include the videos for "Gantz Graf" by Autechre, "Verbal" by Amon Tobin and "Go to Sleep" by Radiohead. Lesser known is the unofficial video he created for the Autechre track "Eutow" as part of the Channel 4 music programme ''Lo-fi'' in 2001. Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. ''Uncut'' is a monthly magazine based in London. It is available across the English-speaking world, and focuses on music, but also includes film and books sections. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. The magazine was acquired in 2019 by Singaporean music company BandLab Technologies, and has been published by NME Networks since December 2021. Glitch (music)
Glitch is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the 1990s. It is distinguished by the deliberate use of glitch-based audio media and other sonic artifacts. The glitching sounds featured in glitch tracks usually come from audio recording device or digital electronics malfunctions, such as CD skipping, electric hum, digital or analog distortion, circuit bending, bit-rate reduction, hardware noise, software bugs, computer crashes, vinyl record hiss or scratches, and system errors. Sometimes devices that were already broken are used, and sometimes devices are broken expressly for this purpose. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Beat Records
Beat Records was an independent record label started by California night club promoter Stephen Zepeda (a.k.a. Steve Zepeda). Beat Records had record releases by Gary Valentine (of Blondie), The Furys, and The Plimsouls (featuring Peter Case). It spanned the 1978 to 1980 time period of Los Angeles rock. Zepeda is best known for booking Bogart's night club in Long Beach, California, which was a very popular hub for alternative music in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
