Untermosel
Untermosel is a former ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district Mayen-Koblenz, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated along the lower course of the river Mosel, south-west of Koblenz. The seat of the municipality was in Kobern-Gondorf. On 1 July 2014 it merged into the new ''Verbandsgemeinde'' Rhein-Mosel. Rhein-Mosel is a ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district Mayen-Koblenz, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. A Verbandsgemeinde (; plural Verbandsgemeinden) is a low-level administrative unit in the German federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt. A Verbandsgemeinde is typically composed of a small group of villages or towns. Rhineland-Palatinate The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is divided into 163 Verbandsgemeinden, which are municipal associations grouped within the 24 districts of the state and subdivided into 2,257 Ortsgemeinden (singular Ortsgemeinde) which comprise single settlements. Most of the Verbandsgemeinden were established in 1969. Formerly the name for an administrative unit was ''Amt''. Niederfell is a small town located in the municipal association of Rhein-Mosel, which is within the rural district of Mayen-Koblenz, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, near the country's western border. It is located across the Mosel River from the small town of Gondorf, about from the city of Koblenz. This town has existed for over a thousand years. A document that was prepared under the Archbishop Poppo describes donations to the Abbey of Saint Mary in the year 1030 A.D., and Niederfell is mentioned in that document (the Abbey of St. Mary was located at what is now called the Exzellenzhaus in Trier).
