Unspoken (film)
''Unspoken'' (french: Non-dit) is a 2008 Belgian drama film. It was written and directed by Fien Troch, produced by Antonino Lombardo, and starred Emmanuelle Devos and Bruno Todeschini. The film tells the story of Grace, who is still grappling with the disappearance of her daughter five years earlier, and her husband Lukas, who is trapped in his own helpless grief. He and Grace have long since stopped communicating. As Grace confronts a series of small absurdities in her apartment building, Lukas finds himself unable to complete even the simplest of daily tasks. When something truly heartbreaking happens in a family, the deepest response is often unspoken. ''Unspoken'' had its world premiere at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival. Fien Troch (born 1978, in Londerzeel) is a Belgian left field film director, producer and screenwriter. Career After graduating from the Sint-Lukas art academy in Brussels in 2000, she achieved several nominations and awards in her chosen career. Her first full-length film ''Someone Else's happiness'' is a psychological drama film that deals with how a fatal car accident affects a small village in Flanders. The film was nominated for the Grand Prix (2005) at the Flanders International Film Festival Ghent and for the Joseph Plateau Award (2006) for Best Belgian Director and Best Belgian Screenplay. Moreover, in 2005 at Thessaloniki Film Festival it won the Golden Alexander and an award for Best Screenplay. At the 62nd edition of the Torino Film Festival it also won the prize for Best Actress. The André Cavens Award (french: Prix André-Cavens) is an accolade presented annually by the Belgian Film Critics Association (UCC), an organization of film critics from publications based in Brussels. The André Cavens Award was introduced in 1976 by the organizing committee to honor cinematic achievement in Belgium. The name of the award comes from film director André Cavens. Film Fest Ghent, spelt Film Fest Gent in Flemish and also known as International Film Fest Gent, is an annual international film festival in Ghent, Belgium.
