Unseen Hands
''Unseen Hands'' is a 1924 American silent film, silent horror film directed by Jacques Jaccard and starring Wallace Beery, Joseph J. Dowling and Fontaine La Rue. This was apparently the only horror film Jaccard directed, although he made over 80 (mostly action and Western) films from 1914 to 1936. It was also producer Walker Coleman Graves Jr.'s only screenwriting credit. Plot Jean Scholast (Beery) makes a favorable impression on a wealthy businessman's wife (La Rue), and she gets her husband George Le Quintrec to hire him. Scholast works his way into the millionaire's life, stealing his wife and his fortune, and eventually murdering the old man. He later begins to experience hallucinations involving the ghost of the murdered man, and in the end, he is frightened to death by the apparition out in the desert. Jacques Jaccard
Jacques Jaccard (September 11, 1886 – July 24, 1960) was an American film director, writer and actor whose achievements in cinema were mostly in silent film. He directed 86 films and wrote scripts for 80 films. The best-known of his films as a director was ''The Diamond from the Sky'' (1915). Biography Jaccard told reporters he was born in New York City and educated in France. He moved back to the U.S. around 1913 and began a career as an actor and assistant director, specializing in western and action films at Universal early on. In the mid-1920s, after returning from serving in World War I, he began working for lower-rent studios such as Goodwill Pictures, Syndicate Pictures, and Arrow Pictures. When movies with sound became popular, Jaccard's career went downhill; he directed his last film, '' Señor Jim'', in 1936. After that, he worked as a screenwriter and dialogue director. James Warren Corey (October 19, 1883 – January 10, 1956) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 300 films between 1914 and 1948. He was born in Nebraska and died in Los Angeles, California. His grave is located at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery. Cleo Madison
Cleo Madison (born Lulu Bailey; March 26, 1883 – March 11, 1964) was a theatrical and silent film actress, screenwriter, producer, and director who was active in Hollywood during the silent era. Madison began her career on the stage. By 1910, she had begun performing as part of a theatre troupe known as the Santa Barbara Stock Company in California. In 1913, she was contracted by the Universal Film Manufacturing Company to begin appearing in feature films. Madison established a name for herself as an actress with performances in films such as ''The Trey o' Hearts'' (1914). She is also considered a pioneering female director with a number of shorts and two feature films, '' A Soul Enslaved'' (1916) and ''Her Bitter Cup'' (1916), to her credit. She made several efforts to set up a production company before leaving show business in 1924. She died from a heart attack in 1964 at the age of 80.
