Heather Unruh (born June 28, 1968) is an American journalist and former television news anchor. She worked for News Center 5 at WCVB for more than fifteen years. Education Unruh is a 1986 graduate of Lincoln High School in Stockton, California and a 1989 graduate of DePauw University. Career Unruh went to WCVB in June 2001 after working at KFOR in Oklahoma City where she was early evening anchor and medical reporter. She has also worked at WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Alabama; both WBNG-TV and WMGC-TV in Binghamton, New York; and WVEU-TV in Atlanta. Unruh received four regional Emmy Awards for journalism, the Clarion Award from Women in Communications, Inc., and the Gracie Allen Award from the American Women in Radio and Television. Unruh Effect
The Unruh effect (also known as the Fulling–Davies–Unruh effect) is a kinematic prediction of quantum field theory that an accelerating observer will observe a thermal bath, like blackbody radiation, whereas an inertial observer would observe none. In other words, the background appears to be warm from an accelerating reference frame; in layman's terms, an accelerating thermometer (like one being waved around) in empty space, removing any other contribution to its temperature, will record a non-zero temperature, just from its acceleration. Heuristically, for a uniformly accelerating observer, the ground state of an inertial observer is seen as a mixed state in thermodynamic equilibrium with a non-zero temperature bath. Zygmunt Unrug (1676–1732), also known as Sigismund von Unruh, was a Polish ''szlachta'' nobleman of German descent who served as a royal chamberlain, ''starosta'', and ambassador to the Kingdom of Prussia during the period of Stanisław I Leszczyński and Augustus II the Strong. Jack Unruh (July 31, 1935 – May 16, 2016) was an American commercial illustrator whose works featured in advertising projects for all types of companies. Unruh won several awards from the Society of Illustrators. His work focuses primarily on the outdoors. History Unruh was born July 31, 1935, in Pretty Prairie, Kansas and primarily resided in Dallas, Texas. He passed on May 16, 2016. Unruh earned a B.F.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. Among his projects are illustrations for the Congo Gorilla Forest at the Bronx Zoo. He is a former instructor at East Texas State University where two of his students were Michael Schwab and Gary Panter.
