The University of Tours (), formerly François Rabelais University of Tours (), is a public university in Tours, France. Founded in 1969, the university was formerly named after the French writer François Rabelais. It is the largest university in the Centre-Val de Loire region. As of July 2015, it is a member of the regional university association Leonardo da Vinci consolidated University. History The University of Tours was established as part of efforts to modernize and democratize higher education in France after the events of 1968. The university was created by grouping together a number of older educational institutions. Tours ( ; ) is the largest city in the region of Centre-Val de Loire, France. It is the Prefectures in France, prefecture of the Departments of France, department of Indre-et-Loire. Maurice Sartre (born 3 October 1944) is a French historian, an Emeritus professor of ancient history at the François Rabelais University, a specialist in ancient Greek and Eastern Roman history, especially the Hellenized Middle East, from Alexander to Islamic conquests. Bishop Peter Stasiuk, C.Ss.R. (; born 16 July 1943 in Roblin, Manitoba, Canada) is an Australian Ukrainian Greek Catholic hierarch. He served as the second Eparchial Bishop of Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saints Peter and Paul of Melbourne from 16 December 1992 until 15 January 2020. Life Bishop Stasiuk was born to a family of ethnic Ukrainian Greek-Catholics in Canada. Sadreddin Elahi ( Persian: صدرالدین الهی; 4 December 1934 – 29 December 2021) was an Iranian journalist, professor, activist, and author. He is often referred to as the "Pioneer of Modern Iranian Journalism". He served as dean of the Department of Radio and Television Journalism at The College of Mass Communications in Tehran, and taught in the United States at the University of California, Berkeley and San Jose State University. Moshe Prywes
Moshe Prywes (; January 3, 1914 - March 1998) was a Polish-Israeli physician and educator. He was the first President of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (1973-1975). Biography Prywes was born in Warsaw, Poland. He studied medicine for two years at the University of Tours in France, and graduated from the University of Warsaw in 1939. After the outbreak of World War II and the German invasion of Poland, Prywes was drafted into the Polish army as a physician-officer in 1939. He was taken captive by the Russians and sent to a labor camp in Siberia where he was kept from 1940 to 1945. From 1945–46, he was head of surgery in the Kherson hospital in Ukraine. Next, he became a chief assistant in the department of surgery, University Hospital, Gdańsk, Poland. Claire Sotinel is a Professor of Ancient History at l'Université de Paris-Est Créteil (Paris 12 Val de Marne University). She is an expert on Italy in late antiquity, religion, society, and prosopography. Education Sotinel received her PhD from Paris-Sorbonne University in 1993.
