University Of Silesia, Opava
The Silesian University in Opava, ( cs, Slezská univerzita v Opavě) is a university offering tertiary education. It was established by the law (Nr. 314/199), adopted by the Czech National Council on 9 July 1991, making it one of the youngest universities in the Czech Republic. In 1999 the Mathematical Institute in Opava was established after its separation from the Faculty of Philosophy and Science, and in 2008 several other institutes were separated from the same faculty and the Faculty of Public Policies in Opava was created. The Silesian University in Opava has participated in the Erasmus Programme since 1999. The number of students and employees participating in the Erasmus Programme increased every year for the first 10 years. Karviná (; pl, Karwina, , german: Karwin) is a city in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 50,000 inhabitants. The Institute of Creative Photography (, ITF), also referred as ''Opava School of Photography'', is the largest post-secondary school of photography in the Czech Republic. It is part of Silesian University (Opava). Euroregion Silesia is a Euroregion in Poland and the Czech Republic. Description and purpose The Euroregion comprises 22 gminas on the Polish side (in the counties of Racibórz, Rybnik, Wodzisław in the Silesian Voivodeship and the Glubczyce County in the Opole Voivodeship) and 52 municipalities on the Czech side (in the districts of Opava, Bruntál and Nový Jičín, plus the city of Ostrava).
