While UiT The Arctic University of Norway is the northernmost university in the world, the University of Lapland is the most northern university in the European Union. Katri Kulmuni
Katri Briitta Ilona Kulmuni (born 4 September 1987) is a Finnish politician who served as the 35th deputy prime minister of Finland and the leader of the Centre Party between 2019 and 2020. A member of the Centre Party, she has been a Member of Parliament since 2015. Early life and education Kulmuni graduated from the University of Lapland in 2018 with a Master of Social Science degree. Political career Kulmuni was elected to the Parliament of Finland in 2015 for the Lapland constituency and reelected in 2019. After the 2019 elections, she was named the Minister of Economic Affairs in Antti Rinne's cabinet. On 7 September 2019, Kulmuni defeated Antti Kaikkonen in the leadership election of the Centre Party. Five days later, she succeeded Mika Lintilä as the Deputy Prime Minister of Finland. Pigga Päivi Kristiina Keskitalo (born 1972, Utsjoki) is a member of the Sámi Parliament of Finland and education researcher at the University of Helsinki, University of Lapland, and the Sámi University. Biography Keskitalo was born in Utsjoki in 1972. She earned her first degree in education in 1997 from the University of Lapland and worked as a teacher. She graduated with a MA in 2008, from the same university. She undertook doctoral research at the University of Lapland and graduated in 2010 with a PhD which explored Sámi cultural sensitivity through educational anthropology. Liisa Rantalaiho (born January 25, 1933) is a Finnish sociologist, fandom activist, and professor emerita in the fields of sociology of health and gender studies. She writes and performs filk songs. Early life and education Liisa Rantalaiho was born January 25, 1933, in Kuorevesi. She defended her Ph.D. thesis in social science in 1968.
