University Of French Polynesia
The University of French Polynesia (french: Université de la Polynésie française) is a French university located in Puna'auia, French Polynesia. History Created by a decree of May 29, 1987, the university was originally called French Pacific University and was split between two sites, one located in New Caledonia (now University of New Caledonia) and the other in Tahiti. The administrative headquarters of the university was in Papeete. Both centers have become autonomous with the Decree No. 99-445 of 31 May 1999. The University of French Polynesia is based in Outumaoro, Punaauia, Tahiti. The number of students is growing steadily, with a significant increase of over 60% since 1999, and so has the range of course offerings. The University of French Polynesia is often the talk of local newspapers, especially because of its proactive policy for the employability of its graduates. Nicole Sanquer
Nicole Sanquer (born 16 June 1972) is a French Polynesian politician, and former Cabinet Minister. She was a member of the French National Assembly from 2017 to 2022. Elected as a member of Tapura Huiraatira, she sits in the UDI and Independents group in the French Parliament. In 2020 she formed the A here ia Porinetia party. Early life Sanquer is the daughter of former French Polynesian education minister Nicolas Sanquer. She was educated at the University of French Polynesia, the Paul Bocuse institute of culinary arts in Écully, and ESSEC Business School, graduating with a masters degree in international hotel management in collaboration with Cornell University in 1997. Vaimalama Chaves
Vaimalama Chaves (born 3 December 1994) is a French singer, beauty pageant titleholder, and model who was crowned Miss France 2019. Chaves had previously won Miss Tahiti 2018 and became the fourth representative from French Polynesia to win the Miss France title. During her reign as Miss France, Chaves began a music career under the mononym Vaimalama, releasing her debut single "Jardin d'hiver" in November 2019. Steve Chailloux
Steve Chailloux is a French Polynesian politician and member of the French National Assembly. He is a member of Tavini Huiraatira, and sits with the New Ecologic and Social People's Union in the National Assembly. Chailloux was born in Papeete and grew up in Faaa and Papeari. He studied at the University of French Polynesia before moving to the Sorbonne and the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, graduating in 2009.
