The Universidad Autónoma Indígena de México (Autonomous Indigenous University of Mexico, UAIM) is a public institution of higher education in Mochicahui, El Fuerte Municipality, Sinaloa. It operates in Mochicahui, Los Mochis and Choix, as well as three extension centers. History The UAIM was founded on 5 December 2001. It evolved from the Institute of Anthropology, also based in Mochicahui and part of the Universidad de Occidente, which had been formed in 1982. It conducted archeological projects, and in the late 1990s, it separated, with Governor Juan S. Millán decreeing the creation of the UAIM as a separate entity. At that time, it had 1,000 students from 15 ethnic groups. In 2011, students demanded the resignation of rector Guadalupe Camargo Orduño, claiming that he was improperly sworn in by the governor instead of the university's governing board. Yaqui Language
Yaqui (or Hiaki), locally known as Yoeme or Yoem Noki, is a Native American language of the Uto-Aztecan family. It is spoken by about 20,000 Yaqui people in the Mexican state of Sonora and across the border in Arizona in the United States. It is partially intelligible with the Mayo language, also spoken in Sonora, and together they are called Cahitan languages. Guasave () is a city and the seat of the homonymous municipality known as the Agricultural Heart of Mexico (El Corazon Agricola de Mexico) in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. Topolobampo () is a port on the Gulf of California in northwestern Sinaloa, Mexico. It is the fourth-largest town in the municipality of Ahome (after Los Mochis, Ahome, and Higuera de Zaragoza), reporting a 2010 census population of 6,361 inhabitants. The port connects the northern Mexican states through the Chihuahua-Pacific Railroad, which has a terminus in nearby Los Mochis.
