Universal Church Of The Kingdom Of God
The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG; pt, Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, IURD) is an evangelical charismatic Christian denomination with its headquarters at the Temple of Solomon in São Paulo, Brazil. The church was founded in 1977 in Rio de Janeiro by Bishop Edir Macedo, who is the owner (since 1989) of the multi-billion television company RecordTV. In 1999 the UCKG claimed to have 8 million members in Brazil and was already considered a "commercial church". The denomination had established temples in the United Kingdom and in Africa and India, claiming a total of more than 12 million members worldwide that year. By 2013, the UCKG had congregations in New York City, and—according to the UCKG's website in the United States— had more than 300 congregations in 33 U.S. states. Méier
Méier is a middle class and upper middle class neighborhood in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The neighborhood is the historic center of the "''Área dos Engenhos''", or "Mill Area", which today is known as ''Grande Méier'' (Great Méier) and has been a sub-prefecture since 2013. As a result, it has a wide range of shops and a variety of services and transport, although it is not one of the largest neighborhoods of the municipality. In the neighborhood is located one of the first shopping centers in Brazil, Shopping do Méier, opened in 1963. Victoria Adjo Climbié (2 November 1991 – 25 February 2000) was an eight-year-old Ivorian girl who was tortured and murdered by her great-aunt and her boyfriend.
