Unity is an unincorporated community in Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It lies long Fall Creek just below Fall Creek Reservoir, north of Lowell and southeast of Springfield and Eugene. Jasper, Oregon
Jasper is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is southeast of Springfield on Oregon Route 222, at the confluence of Hills Creek and the Middle Fork Willamette River. Jasper was the site of a siding of the Southern Pacific Railroad's Cascade Line (now part of the Union Pacific Railroad), which was named for local resident Jasper B. A covered bridge is a timber-truss bridge with a roof, decking, and siding, which in most covered bridges create an almost complete enclosure. The purpose of the covering is to protect the wooden structural members from the weather. Uncovered wooden bridges typically have a lifespan of only 20 years because of the effects of rain and sun, but a covered bridge could last over 100 years. Unity Bridge (Lowell, Oregon)
Unity Bridge ( World Guide Number 37-20-170) is an historic long covered bridge over Fall Creek at Unity near Lowell in Lane County, Oregon, United States. Also known as Unity Covered Bridge and Unity Creek Bridge, it was built in 1936 at a cost $4,400 by Lane County using the Howe truss system. Its east side features a full-length window with its own roof so that drivers can see oncoming cars. The Unity Bridge was preceded by a covered bridge built in 1890. Limited to foot-traffic only after 1936, it was removed in 1953. The Unity Bridge, which replaced the original bridge, is further upstream. It is about downstream of the dam impounding Fall Creek Lake. The map includes mile markers along the creek. County officials temporarily closed the bridge for repairs in 1986. Work included a new floor, exterior painting, repair of piers and guardrails, and vandalism cleanup. The bridge carries Lowell–Unity Road over the creek. Fall Creek Reservoir
Fall Creek Lake (also known as Fall Creek Reservoir) is a reservoir in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is about southeast of Eugene on Fall Creek, immediately upstream from Unity Bridge, a covered bridge. The communities of Unity, at the bridge site, and Lowell, south of Unity, are near the lake. The unincorporated community of Jasper is further downstream, below the confluence of Fall Creek with the Middle Fork Willamette River. Fall Creek Dam, high, impounds up to of water in the reservoir. The embankment dam is of the rockfill type with a gated concrete spillway and outlet controls for regulating lake levels. Fall Creek (Middle Fork Willamette River)
Fall Creek is a tributary of the Middle Fork Willamette River in Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon. Beginning in the Cascade Range, the creek flows generally west through the Willamette National Forest to enter the Middle Fork upstream of Jasper, southeast of Springfield and Eugene. The map includes mile markers along the creek to the point. The remainder is an estimate based on map scale and ruler. Along its upper and middle reaches, the creek flows by many campgrounds, picnic sites, a state park, and the Fall Creek National National Recreation Trail.
