United States At The 2022 World Athletics Championships
The United States hosted at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from 15–24 July 2022, marking the first ever track & field world championship in the U.S. The selection meet for these championships was the 2022 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Team members were announced on July 5. The United States won the first ever title of "World Team Champions", a trophy inaugurated by the IAAF during this championships. Athing Mu
Athing Mu (born June 8, 2002) is an American middle-distance runner. She is the youngest woman in history to own Olympic and world titles in an individual track and field event. At the age of 19, Mu won the gold medal in the 800 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, breaking a national record set by Ajeé Wilson in 2017, and a continental under-20 record. Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry (born January 24, 1999) is an American sprinter specializing in the 100 meters distance. She earned two major medals as part of U.S. women's 4 × 100 m relays, including gold at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Abby Kathryn Steiner (born November 24, 1999) is an American track and field sprinter. She is the U.S. indoor record holder in the 200 m and 300 m, and the NCAA record holder in the 200 m. Steiner holds personal bests of 10.90 seconds over 100 m and 21.77 seconds over 200 m. Early life and development Steiner grew up in the Columbus suburb of Dublin, Ohio, concentrating mainly on soccer, only starting to run track in the eighth grade. She starred in both sports at Dublin Coffman High School. Jenna Elizabeth Prandini (born November 20, 1992) is an American track and field athlete, known for sprinting, but originally began her career doing jumping events. She is a two-time national champion at 200 meters ( 2015, 2018), a 2016 Olympian, and a 2020 Olympic silver medalist. Professional Before Prandini’s 2015 national title, she won the 100 meters at the 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships as a Senior at the University of Oregon. She won four national collegiate titles in 2018, winning the 60 m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, the 100 m and the relay at the NCAA Division I Championships, and the 100 m at the U.S. Championships. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (, born August 7, 1999) is an American hurdler and sprinter who competes in the 400 meters hurdles. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion with the Games record, and 2022 World champion with a world record time of 50.68 seconds. Setting four world records during 13 months, she was the first woman to break the 52-second (June 2021) and 51-second (July 2022) barriers in the 400 m hurdles. Summary The semi final took every athlete who broke 45 seconds into the final. By contrast, in 2015, sixteen athletes broke 45 in the semi-final round. 2015 was the second World Championships for two of the finalists, both former champions, Kirani James and world record holder Wayde van Niekerk. After what should have been a career ending knee injury, it was remarkable for van Niekerk to get this far, each race an experiment to see how fast he could still go.
