United Serbia
United Serbia ( sr, Јединствена Србија, Jedinstvena Srbija, JS) is a national-conservative political party in Serbia. History It was founded on 15 February 2004, as a split from the far-right Party of Serbian Unity with Dragan Marković Palma elected as the leader on the first party assembly. During its early years, the party had close relations with other right-wing parties such as New Serbia and Democratic Party of Serbia, even participating with them in the 2007 parliamentary election. During the 2008 parliamentary election, they participated in a coalition around the Socialist Party of Serbia and supported the accession of Serbia into the European Union. The New Democratic Party of Serbia ( sr, Нова демократска странка Србије, Nova demokratska stranka Srbije, , NDSS or New DSS) is a national-conservative political party in Serbia. Initially known and formed as Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), the party was formed as a conservative split from the Democratic Party (DS), and has played a key role in the opposition during the 1990s. It was a part of the "Together" coalition and was later a founding member of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS). Its first leader, Vojislav Koštunica, was elected president of Yugoslavia in 2000, a role which he served until 2003. Dragan Marković ( sr-cyr, Драган Марковић; born 2 May 1960), commonly known as Palma ("palm tree"), is a Serbian businessman, politician and entrepreneur. He currently serves as a member of the National Assembly of Serbia and is a founder and the party leader of United Serbia (''Jedinstvena Srbija''). He was the mayor of Jagodina from 2004 until 2012. Boris Tadić ( sr-cyr, Борис Тадић, ; born 15 January 1958) is a Serbian politician who served as the president of Serbia from 2004 to 2012. Born in Sarajevo, he graduated from the University of Belgrade with a degree in psychology. He later worked as a journalist, military psychologist, and as a teacher at the First Belgrade Gymnasium. Tadić joined the Democratic Party (DS) in 1990 and was elected to the National Assembly after the 1993 election.
