United Nations Security Council Resolution 19, adopted on February 27, 1947, created a sub-committee of three members to examine all the facts involved in the dispute between the United Kingdom and Albania over the Corfu Channel incident and to make a report to the Council no later than March 10, 1947. Two British vessels were sunk by mines in the Straits on October 22, 1946. The resolution passed with 8 votes, with three abstentions from Poland, the Soviet Union and Syria. Albania–United Kingdom relations are the bilateral relations between Albania and the United Kingdom. Albania has an embassy in London, and the United Kingdom has an embassy in Tirana. Diplomatic relations were established first in 1922, interrupted in 1939 for 51 years, to be re-established on 29 May 1991. United Nations Security Council Resolution
A United Nations Security Council resolution is a United Nations resolution adopted by the fifteen members of the Security Council (UNSC); the United Nations (UN) body charged with "primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security". The UN Charter specifies (in Article 27) that a draft resolution on non-procedural matters is adopted if nine or more of the fifteen Council members vote for the resolution, and if it is not vetoed by any of the five permanent members.
