"United" is a song recorded by Dominican–American reggae/ragga recording artist Prince Ital Joe and American rapper Marky Mark. It was released in March 1994 as the third single from their debut album, ''Life in the Streets'' (1994). It was co-written and produced by Alex Christensen and Frank Peterson. The single reached number one in Germany and the top 10 in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland. Critical reception Alan Jones from ''Music Week'' gave the song four out of five. He wrote, "Number one in Germany, this catchy confection combines Ital Joe's Haddaway and Dr. Alban influences with Marky Mark's streetwise rapping. A substantial hit." He later added, "This is an anthemic German production pairing the patois of Prince Ital and a more conventional Marky Mark rap with a big chorus. Prince Ital Joe
Joe Paquette (May 5, 1963 – May 16, 2001), better known by his stage name Prince Ital Joe, was a Dominican rapper of reggae and ragga best known for his collaborations with Mark Wahlberg, Marky Mark and Death Row Records artists. Prince Ital Joe also did some acting, appearing in the Steven Seagal film, ''Marked for Death'' and in the TV series, ''EZ Streets'' and ''Players (1997 TV series), Players''. Life and career Prince Ital Joe was born in the Commonwealth of Dominica, and moved to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 13 with his parents in 1976. After completing high school, Joe moved to California to pursue his dreams of acting and entertainment. Before getting into the music business, Joe worked for over ten years performing at private Hollywood parties and clubs and From 1988 to 1990 as a concert promoter in the Caribbean for acts like Ziggy Marley.
