The Union River is a stream in the U.S. state of Washington. Kitsap County is located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, its population was 275,611. Its county seat is Port Orchard, and its largest city is Bremerton. Kitsap Peninsula
The Kitsap Peninsula () lies west of Seattle across Puget Sound, in Washington state in the Pacific Northwest. Hood Canal separates the peninsula from the Olympic Peninsula on its west side. The peninsula, a.k.a. "Kitsap", encompasses all of Kitsap County except Bainbridge and Blake Islands, as well as the northeastern part of Mason County and the northwestern part of Pierce County. Bremerton is a city in Kitsap County, Washington. The population was 37,729 at the 2010 census and an estimated 41,405 in 2019, making it the largest city on the Kitsap Peninsula. Gold Mountain (Washington)
Gold Mountain is a summit in the Blue Hills on the Kitsap Peninsula of Washington state, in the United States' Pacific Northwest. It is the highest point on the Kitsap Peninsula and the highest point in Kitsap County, Washington, and nearby Green Mountain is the second-highest point. The mountain lies partly on private land, partly in the City of Bremerton watershed inaccessible to the general public, and partly in the adjacent Green Mountain State Forest which is open to hikers, horses, and on- and off-road vehicles. Most of the eastern half of Gold Mountain is in the city watershed, with the Union River reservoir at the foot. Casad Dam
Casad Dam is a concrete arch dam in Bremerton, Kitsap County, Washington), built starting in 1955 and completed in 1957. The dam is Kitsap County's only major water diversion structure, impounding Union River to form a reservoir that is the source of over half of Bremerton's municipal water supply. The water is gravity fed from the reservoir at in the hills to the city, most of which is at or near sea level. Bremerton owns 95% of the land in its watershed, and the Union River reservoir behind Casad Dam holds of water. The city is unusual in drawing most of its water supply from an open air source, the reservoir, which can occasionally be affected by algal blooms. Belfair is a census-designated place in Mason County, Washington, United States. Located at the mouth of the Union River at Hood Canal, it serves as the commercial center of North Mason County. The population of the surrounding area grows in the summertime, as the Canal and the Olympic Peninsula are popular with tourists. The population was 3,931 as of the 2010 census.
