The Union Dutchmen and Dutchwomen comprise the 24 teams representing Union College in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, crew, cross country, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and track and field. Men's only sports include baseball and football. Women's only sports include field hockey, golf, softball, and volleyball. Leagues The Dutchmen compete in the NCAA Division III and are members of the Liberty League for all sports except ice hockey, which competes in NCAA Division I as a member of ECAC Hockey. Union College
Union College is a private liberal arts college in Schenectady, New York. Founded in 1795, it was the first institution of higher learning chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, and second in the state of New York, after Columbia College (formerly King's College). Union Dutchwomen Ice Hockey
The Union Dutchwomen's ice hockey team represents Union College in Schenectady, New York, United States. History From 1999 to 2003, the Dutchwomen competed in Division III hockey. In 2003, the Dutchwomen joined the ECAC. On February 20, 2010, senior Jackie Koetteritz, had played in her 125th game for the Dutchwomen, setting a record for the most games in a Dutchwoman uniform. On November 4, 2011: Emilie Arseneault scored a short handed goal late into the second period to give the Dutchwomen a 2-1 conference victory over the Clarkson Golden Knights women's ice hockey program. It was the Dutchwomen's first ECAC win since the 2009-2010 season, and only their second ECAC win since 2004. Despite ending the 2013-14 season with a 9-24-1 record, several milestones were achieved. Keith Kinkaid
Keith Patrick Kinkaid (born July 4, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Kinkaid graduated from Sachem High School East in 2007. Kinkaid played for the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League for the 2008–09 season. In February 2009, Kinkaid committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Union College. That April, Kinkaid was named MVP and Goaltender of the Year after he led all NAHL goaltenders in wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts. Ashley Johnston
Ashley Johnston (born 17 July 1992) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defender and current assistant coach of the Premier Hockey Federation's Metropolitan Riveters. Known for her gritty, stay-at-home style of play as a shutdown defender, she was the first player to serve as team captain in Riveters history, a role she would hold for three years until her initial retirement. Playing career Early career Johnston was born in 1992 in Burlington, Ontario, and is a graduate of Union College, where she played for the Union Dutchwomen ice hockey team. Shayne Gostisbehere
Shayne Gostisbehere ( ; born April 20, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey defenceman for the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Between 2014 and 2021, he played in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers. Gostisbehere is known by his nickname, "Ghost" or "Ghost Bear". Gostisbehere was born in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and began playing hockey with the youth affiliate of the Florida Panthers. Halfway through high school, he transferred from Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Florida to South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut. The Israel national baseball team ( he, נבחרת ישראל בבייסבול) represents Israel in international competitions. It is managed by Israeli-American former Major League Baseball World Series champion, World Baseball Classic champion, All Star, and Olympian Ian Kinsler. At the 2017 WBC, Team Israel came in 6th. Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins are an American professional baseball team based in Miami. The Marlins compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) East division. The club's home ballpark is LoanDepot Park. The franchise began play as an expansion team in the 1993 season as the Florida Marlins. Jake Fishman
Jake Layton Fishman (born February 8, 1995) is an American-Israeli professional baseball pitcher in the Oakland Athletics organization. Fishman was selected in the 30th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. He was on the roster for Team Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic, and is slated to play for the team at the 2023 World Baseball Classic. In 2019 he obtained Israeli citizenship, and pitched for Team Israel in baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, in the summer of 2021. He made his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins on July 31, 2022. He elected to become a free agent in November 2022 and signed a minor league deal with the Oakland Athletics in December 2022.
