Union District, formerly Union Magisterial District, is one of five historic magisterial districts in Jackson County, West Virginia, United States. A minor civil division (MCD) is a term used by the United States Census Bureau for primary governmental and/or administrative divisions of a county or county-equivalent, typically a municipal government such as a city, town, or civil township. Ripley is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, West Virginia, Jackson County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 3,074 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. History Ripley was originally owned and settled by William, John, and Lewis Rodgers. They received a grant of in 1768 where "Sycamore Creek joins Big Mill Creek" (the current site of Ripley). Roane County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,028. Its county seat is Spencer. The county was founded in 1856 and is named for Spencer Roane. History Roane County was created by an act of the Virginia General Assembly on March 11, 1856.
