Union Creek Historic District
Union Creek Historic District near the upper Rogue River in Union Creek, Oregon, is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places for rustic structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. The site lies along Oregon Route 62 and the upper Rogue River, about north of Prospect and about west of Crater Lake. Buildings in the district include a CCC picnic shelter and amphitheater, the Union Creek Resort lodge, a grocery store, cabins, restaurant, and an ice cream shop; all retain an early 20th-century appearance. Activities in the area include hiking, fishing, and horseback riding, as well as snow-tubing and sledding in the winter. According to a short essay included on the back of the menu at Beckie's Cafe, one of the buildings at Union Creek, the site was a popular camping spot in the early 1900s. Union Peak is a heavily eroded shield volcano in the Cascade Range of central Oregon, located along the Cascade Crest less than southwest of the rim of Crater Lake. Union Creek (Rogue River)
Union Creek is a long tributary of the Rogue River in the U.S. state of Oregon. Beginning west of Union Peak in the Cascade Range, it flows through the Rogue River – Siskiyou National Forest to meet the Rogue at Union Creek and the Union Creek Historic District. The creek begins near Rocktop Butte and flows north through Jackson County, roughly parallel to the nearby border of Crater Lake National Park and the Jackson–Klamath county line, which is on the right. Prospect, Oregon
Prospect is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It lies along Oregon Route 62 on the Rogue River, in the Rogue River – Siskiyou National Forest. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 455. History Prospect began as a logging town; its first sawmill began operating in 1870. Prospect had a post office established in 1882 that was first named "Deskins" after the first postmaster. In 1888, there was a mill named Deskins Sawmill.
