Union City Historic District is a national historic district located at Union City, Erie County, Pennsylvania. It includes 96 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in the central business district and surrounding residential areas of Union City. The district includes commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. The buildings were built between 1865 and 1925 and are in a variety of popular architectural styles including Late Victorian and Colonial Revival. The commercial buildings are mostly brick two- and three-story buildings. Notable buildings include the Hansen Building (1888), Clement Lodge Building (1890), I.O.O.F. Union City, Pennsylvania
Union City is a borough in Erie County, Pennsylvania. It is located southeast of Erie. In the twentieth century, there were three large chair factories, planing and grist mills, a powdered milk plant, and several furniture factories. The population was 2,934 at the 2020 census. Erie County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is the northernmost county in Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 270,876. Its county seat is Erie. Victorian architecture is a series of architectural revival styles in the mid-to-late 19th century. ''Victorian'' refers to the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901), called the Victorian era, during which period the styles known as Victorian were used in construction. However, many elements of what is typically termed "Victorian" architecture did not become popular until later in Victoria's reign, roughly from 1850 and later. Colonial Revival Architecture
The Colonial Revival architectural style seeks to revive elements of American colonial architecture. The beginnings of the Colonial Revival style are often attributed to the Centennial Exhibition of 1876, which reawakened Americans to the architectural traditions of their colonial past.
