Union Church (Buckfield, Maine)
The Union Church is a historic church on High Street, north of the center of Buckfield, Maine. Built in 1831-32, it is a well-proportioned Federal-style church with Gothic Revival alterations. It served for a time as Buckfield's town hall, and is now managed by the Town of Buckfield. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Description and history The Union Church is located on the east side of High Street, up the hill north from the center of Buckfield. It is a single-story wood frame structure, with a gable roof, granite foundation, and two-stage tower with steeple. The main (south-facing) facade is a symmetrical three bays, with the center projecting section supporting the tower. Greenwood Union Church
Greenwood Union Church is a historic church at 4 Oak Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The church was built in 1884 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. History and description The early beginnings of the Greenwood Union Church can be traced through historical records to the mid-1850s when the Sunday School was organized under the leadership of Henry Degan. The founders met in the unoccupied room of the Greenwood School House (also referred to as the old Hose House). After the First Congregational Society of Greenwood was organized in 1873, the members immediately began planning for a building of their own. South Swansea Baptist Church
South Swansea Baptist Church (formerly South Swansea Union Church) is a historic church building in Swansea, Massachusetts. Built in 1916, it is Swansea's best example of a Shingle-style church. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Description and history The South Swansea Baptist Church is set at the northwest corner of Church Street and Gardner's Neck Road in an otherwise residential area. It is a -story wood-frame structure, set on a raised rubblestone foundation with a gabled roof. A gabled section projects on the south side, and there is at the southeast corner a square tower with an open belvedere below a tent roof. The Union Church of Vinalhaven is a historic church on East Main Street in the center of Vinalhaven, Maine. Built in 1899, it is a high quality example of Shingle style architecture, designed by one of its major promoters, John Calvin Stevens. Description and history The Union Church stands on the south side of East Main Street in downtown Vinalhaven, just east of its junction with Atlantic Avenue. Stetson Union Church, also known as the Stetson Meetinghouse, is a historic church building on Maine State Route 222 in Stetson, Maine. Built in 1843 to a design by Bangor architect Benjamin S. Deane, it is an excellent and well-preserved example of ecclesiastical Greek Revival architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
