Uni Girona Club de Basquet, also known as Spar Girona (previously Spar Citylift Girona) for sponsorship reasons, is a Spanish women's basketball club from Girona. History Founded in 2005 from the fusion of local clubs CE Santa Eugènia and CB Vedruna, the team attained promotion for the Spanish First League in 2009, ending 5th in its first two seasons. Liga Femenina De Baloncesto
The Liga Femenina de Baloncesto, also known as Liga Femenina Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the highest level of sports league, league competition for women's basketball in Spain. It is the women's equivalent of the men's Liga ACB and is run by the Spanish Basketball Federation. The league was founded in 1964 and is played under FIBA rules. Throughout its history 13 clubs have been champions; CB Godella-Pool Getafe (with both names), Ros Casares Godella, Ros Casares and CB Avenida, Perfumerías Avenida have won the most championships, with eight. Laia Palau Altés (born 10 September 1979) is a Spanish professional basketball player, currently playing for Spanish team Spar CityLift Girona. At 314, she is the most capped player in the Spain women's national basketball team, after being in the senior team for two decades (2002-2021). With 12 medals in final tournaments, she is also the top medallist. Club career Palau began her professional career with Universitari de Barcelona in 1997, and continued to play with CBF Universitari de Barcelona through 2004, winning one league title. In 2004, she joined Bourges Basket, and played with them through 2006, winning 1 league and 2 French cups. Back in Spain, she played for Ros Casares Valencia between 2006 and 2012, winning 5 league titles, 4 cups and the 2011–12 EuroLeague Women. The Copa de la Reina de Baloncesto 2016 is the 54th edition of the Spanish Queen's Basketball Cup. It is managed by the Spanish Basketball Federation – FEB and was held in San Sebastián, in the Polideportivo Municipal José Antonio Gasca on February 6–7, 2016. Bidding process The rules of the Spanish Basketball Federation establish that the three first teams classified at the end of the first leg, together with the club representing the host province will play the Competition. If the host finishes between the three first teams, the fourth classified will also participate. The cities of Salamanca, Huelva, Logroño, and San Sebastián bid for hosting the Cup. 2012 Copa De La Reina De Baloncesto
The 2012 Copa de la Reina de Baloncesto (''Queen's Cup of Basketball'') was the 50th edition of the Spanish women's basketball national cup. It was contested by the top four teams in the 2011–12 Liga Femenina de Baloncesto after Week 24 and took place on 10–11 March 2012 in Arganda del Rey, Madrid. The three matches were broadcast by Teledeporte and autonomical channels Canal 9, TV3 and CYLTV. 2011 Euroleague and Spanish League champion CB Avenida won its third cup by beating 68–57 favorite Ros Casares. Defending champion BC Rivas was defeated by Ros Casares in the semifinals, while Uni Girona made its debut in the competition.Copa de la Reina: four teams for a title.


2011–12 Liga Femenina De Baloncesto
The 2011–12 Liga Femenina de Baloncesto was the 49th edition of the Spanish premier women's basketball championship. It took place from 15 October 2011 to April 2011. Fourteen teams took part in the championship, with Caja Rural Tintos de Toro and Jopisa Ciudad de Burgos replacing relegated teams CB Olesa and Extrugasa, this one relegated due to financial problems. Ros Casares defeated defending champion CB Avenida in the play-off's final to win its fourteenth and final title. Uni Girona and Baloncesto Rivas also qualified for the play-offs. On the other hand, Unión Navarra and CB Puig d'en Valls were relegated. However, Ros Casares was disbanded for financial reasons following the end of the season,Ros Casares announces its dissolution.
