Underwater Search And Rescue Group Command (Turkey)
The Underwater Search and Rescue Group Command is affiliated with the Turkish Naval Forces. Its duties are to carry out underwater training of the Naval Forces Command and other units, to train 1st class divers and underwater defense personnel, and to participate in search and rescue activities at times of war and peace. In 2017, the TCG Alemdar was put into service and the capabilities of the unit were upgraded. Search and rescue activities can be carried out up to a depth of 600 meters. With the Atmospheric Diving System, divers, who can go as far down as 365 meters, can provide life packages and air support to submarines. The TCG ''Alemdar'' (A-582) is an ''Alemdar''-class submarine rescue mother ship (MOSHIP) of the Turkish Navy. Ordered on October 28, 2011 and built by Istanbul Shipyard, she was launched on April 29, 2014. She is designed to perform subsea and surface search and rescue missions under various sea conditions. Underwater Searches
Underwater searches are procedures to find a known or suspected target object or objects in a specified search area under water. They may be carried out underwater by divers, manned submersibles, remotely operated underwater vehicles, or autonomous underwater vehicles, or from the surface by other agents, including surface vessels, aircraft and cadaver dogs. A search method attempts to provide full coverage of the search area. This is greatly influenced by the width of the sweep, which largely depends on the method used to detect the target. Atmospheric Diving Suit
An atmospheric diving suit (ADS) is a small one-person articulated submersible which resembles a suit of armour, with elaborate pressure joints to allow articulation while maintaining an internal pressure of one atmosphere. An ADS can enable diving at depths of up to for many hours by eliminating the majority of significant physiological dangers associated with deep diving. The occupant of an ADS does not need to decompress, and there is no need for special gas mixtures, so there is little danger of decompression sickness or nitrogen narcosis when the ADS is functioning properly.
