Undergroove Records was founded as a British underground metal record label in 1998 by Darren Sadler. The label has since become much more open minded releasing everything from the post-rock of Aereogramme to the trip hop influenced grooves of 27. Down I Go
Down I Go are an experimental hardcore band from London. Their music combines complex song structure and rhythmic patterns with both melodic and screaming vocals, as well as frequently marrying these features with orchestral instrumentation including brass and string sections. All their major releases have been written around specific individual themes, in release order: dinosaurs, environmental and man-made disasters, fictional robots, historical tyrants, Greek mythology and Icelandic folklore. My Ruin is an American alternative metal band from Los Angeles, California, composed of the husband and wife duo Tairrie B and Mick Murphy. The band has been through various line-up changes since its formation in 1999. The band's sound consists of passionate vocals and heavy rock beats, with most of the fanbase in the UK. Vocalist Tairrie B Murphy has cultivated a reputation both on and off the stage for her aggressive performances and acerbic vocal style. Over the decade since the band's formation, the sound has evolved and become heavier with each record, with Mick Murphy's guitar playing becoming a prominent feature along with his solos and riffs. Johnny Truant
Johnny Truant was a British metalcore band, formed in 2000 under the name Severance. The band recorded three demos under this moniker before renaming themselves after one of the main characters of Mark Z. Danielewski's novel ''House of Leaves''. The band recorded their debut release ''The Repercussions of a Badly Planned Suicide'' (which featured three remixed songs from their second demo) in 2002 which was released on Undergroove Records. Their second album, ''In the Library of Horrific Events'' was produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist, Adam Dutkiewicz. The band have toured the UK, Europe and Canada with the likes of Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Cancer Bats and Alexisonfire as well as playing Download Festival in 2005, 2006 and 2008. Aereogramme were a Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1998, consisting of Craig B. (vocals, guitar), Iain Cook (guitar, programming), Campbell McNeil (bass) and Martin Scott (drums). Prior to their split in 2007, the band released four studio albums. Biography Formed in April 1998, the band released two 7" singles in 1999 before signing to Chemikal Underground in early 2000, at which point they recorded two EPs before releasing their first full-length, '' A Story in White'', in 2001. 27 is an American rock band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. The band was formed by Maria Christopher, formerly of Dirt Merchants, and Ayal Naor in 1997. 27 is commonly categorized as a rock or indie rock band, but the genres lo-fi and emo have occasionally been used to describe them. 27 has toured extensively throughout Europe, North America, and Japan. In the Czech Republic, the band opened for Robert Plant. 27 shares a relatively close relationship with the band Isis. Eden Maine were an English metalcore/avant garde metal band from St Albans, Hertfordshire, formed in 1999. As of September 2005, they are on an indefinite hiatus. Biography Eden Maine was formed in 1999 by vocalist Adam Symonds and bassist Nick Brown. After going through several lineup changes, drummer Kieran Iles was recruited, and the band started to develop their own sound, drawing elements from metal, and hardcore. At this time, the guitarists in the band were Faeryn Lee and Neil Green. Faeryn soon left the band to move back to the US, and was replaced by Simon Davis. With Simon in the line up, they completed the writing for their debut EP; ''The Treachery Pact'', and prepared to enter the studio. Minus the Bear was an American indie rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 2001, and comprising members of Botch, Kill Sadie, and Sharks Keep Moving. Their sound was described as " Pele-esque guitar-taps and electronics with sophisticated time signature composition." Minus the Bear released six albums and four EPs.
