Underdog Kids
''Underdog Kids'' is a film directed by Phillip Rhee that premiered on July 7, 2015. Plot At the Mid-County Community Center, a coach quits teaching a ragtag team martial arts. Community Center leader Charlie is looking for a new coach when former mixed martial arts champion Jimmy Lee, a protege of Charlie's whose career ended three years earlier after an accident, arrives. Reluctantly, he agrees to teach the group, consisting of Wyatt, Leticia, Raymond, Ricky, and brothers Alex and Sean, until he can work out an MMA comeback. At first, the kids are reluctant to learn from Jimmy and each of them is dealing with issues of their own, including poverty, bullying, desire for approval, and parental loss. However, Jimmy slowly warms up to the kids as he comes to recognize their need for guidance, and as he helps each of them with their issues, they slowly warm to him in return. Phillip Rhee (born September 7, 1960) is an American martial artist, actor, director, screenwriter, and film producer, most famous for his role in the ''Best of the Best'' movie series. Life and career Rhee was born in South Korea and raised in San Francisco, California. He is a martial artist, actor, director and film producer who has created, produced and starred in numerous films, including the ''Best of the Best'' film series. The first ''Best of the Best'' film spawned three sequels; ''Best of the Best 2'', '' Best of the Best 3: No Turning Back'' and '' Best of the Best 4: Without Warning''. Benny Urquidez (born June 20, 1952) is an American kickboxer, martial arts choreographer and actor. Nicknamed "The Jet", Urquidez was a non-contact karate competitor who later pioneered full-contact fighting in the United States. He made the transition from point to full-contact karate in 1974, the year of its inception in the US, frequently fighting in bouts where the rules were ambiguous and contrasts in styles were dramatic. Urquidez is also known for once holding the rare achievement of six world titles in five different weight divisions, and remained largely undefeated in his 27-year career.
