Under The Moonlight (2001 Film)
''Under the Moonlight'' ( fa, زیر نور ماه, ''Zire Noore Maah'') is a 2001 Iranian drama film directed by Reza Mirkarimi. It is the story of a young seminarian beleaguered by doubts about becoming a cleric. Plot The young Hasan is about to become a cleric. He buys the clergy dresses as he is soon to be ordained. But a street kid named Jujeh steals his stuff including the clergy dresses. Hasan begins his search in order to find the kid. In this quest, he encounters a group of homeless people living under a bridge. His hesitations about becoming a cleric begin as he faces the real world outside the seminary. Reception The film won the special jury award at Fajr International Film Festival. It was chosen as the best film at International Critics' Week which is the oldest parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival. Reza Mirkarimi ( fa, رضا میرکریمی; born 27 January 1967) is an Iranian screenwriter and film director. He was also Secretary of the International Film Festival of the Fajr Film Festival. Career He graduated from Fine Arts University in graphic arts in Tehran. His cinema activities started from 1987 with a short film named ''For Him'' (16mm camera) and with a series of shorts followed by two TV series aimed at young people. Fajr International Film Festival
Iran's annual Fajr International Film Festival ( fa, جشنواره بینالمللی فیلم فجر), or Fajr Film Festival (little: FIFF; fa, جشنواره فیلم فجر), has been held every February and April in Tehran since 1982. The festival is supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. It takes place on the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The International Critics' Week (french: Semaine de la Critique) was founded in 1962 and is organized by the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics.
