''Under Construction'' ( bn, আন্ডার কন্সট্রাকশন; and French title as ''Les Lauriers-roses rouges'') is a 2015 Bengali narrative feature film written and directed by Rubaiyat Hossain. Plot Struggling to find herself in the sprawl of urban Bangladesh, Muslim theater actress Roya suffers from her husband's wish for children and traditional life. Not interested in motherhood, she decides to reconstruct a famous and politically minded play for modern times, reclaiming her identity, her freedom and her sexuality in the process. Rubaiyat Hossain
Rubaiyat Hossain ( bn, রুবাইয়াত হোসেন) is a Bangladeshi film director, writer, and producer. She made the films ''Meherjaan'' (2011), '' Under Construction'' (2015) and '' Made in Bangladesh'' (2019). Education Inspired by the works of Satyajit Ray, Hossain pursued her interest in cinema and completed a diploma in film direction at New York Film Academy in 2002. She has also completed a B. A. in women studies from Smith College, and an M. A. in South Asian studies from the University of Pennsylvania and M. A. in Cinema Studies from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in the United States. Her primary fields of interest are Sufism, Bengali nationalism, formation of Bengali modernity and its correlation with female sexuality. Montreal World Film Festival
The Montreal World Film Festival (WFF; french: le Festival des Films du Monde) was one of Canada's oldest international film festivals and the only competitive film festival in North America accredited by the FIAPF (although the Toronto International Film Festival is North America's only accredited non-competitive festival). 51st International Film Festival Of India
The 51st International Film Festival of India was held from 16 to 24 January 2021 in Goa. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the festival went hybrid, there was physical and virtual screening of 50 films out of 224 films across various categories. Bangladesh was country of focus in the festival with four films of the country included in 'country of focus' section. The Locarno Film Festival is an annual film festival, held every August in Locarno, Switzerland. Founded in 1946, the festival screens films in various competitive and non-competitive sections, including feature-length narrative, documentary, short, avant-garde, and retrospective programs. Dhaka International Film Festival ( bn, ঢাকা আন্তর্জাতিক চলচ্চিত্র উৎসব) is a biennial film festival held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 1992, the festival was initially organized on annual basis, but became a biennial event since 1995. Shahana Goswami
Shahana Goswami is an Indian actress. She is the daughter of Indian economist and writer Omkar Goswami. Career Through her theater circle Goswami met talent consultant Shaanu Sharma who asked her to audition for a role in Naseeruddin Shah's directorial debut ''Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota''. Subsequently, she stumbled upon the small role of Boman Irani's daughter in Reema Kagti's ''Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.'', when she visited the production house for some other work.
