Unbroken (book)
''Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption'' is a 2010 non-fiction book by Laura Hillenbrand. ''Unbroken'' is a biography of World War II veteran Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic track star who survived a plane crash in the Pacific Theater, spent 47 days drifting on a raft, and then survived more than two and a half years as a prisoner of war (POW) in three Japanese POW camps. ''Unbroken'' spent more than four years on ''The New York Times'' best seller list, including 14 weeks at number one. It is the 5th longest-running nonfiction best seller of all time. Background Inspired by the story Come on SeaBiscuit in childhood, as an adult Hillenbrand wrote '' Seabiscuit: An American Legend'' (2001). While researching that novel, Hillenbrand came across a 1938 newspaper article about Louis Zamperini. The discovery led Hillenbrand to tell the story of Louis Zamperini's experience as a prisoner of war (POW) during World War II. “Unbroken” (2010 ...

Crematory (band)
Crematory is a German gothic metal band formed in Mannheim in 1991. History The band received its earliest recognition in the mid-1990s by touring with My Dying Bride, Tiamat and Atrocity. Much like the latter two groups, the band had begun as traditional death metal, then evolved in an industrial music and gothic metal musical direction on later albums. The band received heavy rotation on ''MTV Germany'', and made appearances at various extreme metal festivals, including Germany's ''Wacken Open Air'' in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2008, in addition to inclusion on Nuclear Blast compilation samplers. The band re-signed to Massacre Records in 2006 after a 10-year stint with Nuclear Blast; Massacre had been the band's first label. In 2013 they signed with Steamhammer/SPV to release their next album, '' Antiserum''. In 2019 they moved to Napalm Records, and their 15th studio album, ''Unbroken'', was released under their label, on 6 March 2020. Active for 30 years (with a bri ...

Suite XVI
''Suite XVI'' is the sixteenth studio album by the Stranglers, released on 18 September 2006 by Liberty EMI Records. It saw the band return as a four-piece after the departure of singer Paul Roberts, with lead vocals shared between guitarist Baz Warne and bassist Jean-Jacques Burnel. The album continues, but also builds on, the shift to a more recognisable sound seen in the previous album, '' Norfolk Coast'', with a sound much more akin to the band's earlier sound during the 1970s and early 1980s. The album was supported by an extensive UK tour by the band and peaked at number 89 in the UK Albums Chart. The album was released in Japan with two bonus tracks (taken from the B-side of the UK single " Spectre of Love"). In 2022, the XVI Anniversary Remastered Edition was re-issued by Coursegood Ltd and entered the UK albums chart at number 45. Background The writing process for ''Suite XVI'' began in January 2005 in a rented house in Looe in Cornwall, where Jean-Jacques Burne ...

The Sin And Doom Vol
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pr ...

Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture
Music is generally defined as the art of arranging sound to create some combination of form, harmony, melody, rhythm or otherwise expressive content. Exact definitions of music vary considerably around the world, though it is an aspect of all human societies, a cultural universal. While scholars agree that music is defined by a few specific elements, there is no consensus on their precise definitions. The creation of music is commonly divided into musical composition, musical improvisation, and musical performance, though the topic itself extends into academic disciplines, criticism, philosophy, and psychology. Music may be performed or improvised using a vast range of instruments, including the human voice. In some musical contexts, a performance or composition may be to some extent improvised. For instance, in Hindustani classical music, the performer plays spontaneously while following a partially defined structure and using characteristic motifs. In modal jazz the ...
