Unbeatable (film)
''Unbeatable'' (激戰) is a 2013 Hong Kong–Chinese sports drama film directed by Dante Lam. The film had its premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 18, 2013. Plot Ching Fai (Nick Cheung) is a former boxing champion who has struggled since his glory days, having gone to prison over involvement with the Triads due to financial problems and now working as a taxi driver. When Triad loan sharks torch his taxi and chase him down for money he owed, Fai decides to flee to Macau to avoid them. In Macau, Fai accepts a job offer from an old friend to work as an assistant in a gym, while renting a room with a feisty young girl Peidan (Crystal Lee), who has been taking care of her psychologically unstable mother (Mei Ting) since her four-year-old son drowned and her husband left her for another woman. Dante Lam
Dante Lam Chiu-Yin () is a Hong Kong film director, writer and actor who is a major figure in Chinese action cinema. Background He was trained in the tradition of John Woo as an assistant director and worked as an actor and producer. He often writes and supervises his own choreography. In 2008 he won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Director for his work on ''Beast Stalker''. His 2018 film ''Operation Red Sea'' is the second-highest-grossing Chinese film of all time and 9th in the international box office list of 2018. It won him the Hundred Flowers Award for Best Director and the award for Best Action Choreography at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards. In the aftermath of the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, Lam was contracted by the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) to produce a video, ''Guarding Our City'', intended to help rehabilitate the police force's public image.
