Un Amour Impossible
''An Impossible Love'' (french: Un amour impossible) is a 2018 French romantic drama film co-written and directed by Catherine Corsini, based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Christine Angot. Starring Virginie Efira, Niels Schneider and Jehnny Beth, the film chronicles the life of office worker Rachel as she falls in love with the wealthy Philippe, gives birth to their daughter Chantal, and raises Chantal as a single mother while maintaining a complicated relationship with Philippe. Plot In the late 1950s in Châteauroux, France, Rachel, a modest office worker, meets Philippe, a brilliant young man born to a bourgeois family. This brief but passionate connection results in the birth of a daughter, Chantal. Philippe refuses to marry outside of his social class and Rachel has to raise their daughter alone. Catherine Corsini
Catherine Corsini (born 18 May 1956) is a French film director, screenwriter and actress. Her film ''Replay (2001 film), Replay'' was entered into the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. Her 2012 film ''Three Worlds (film), Three Worlds'' competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. In April 2016, she was announced as the President of the Jury for the Caméra d'Or prize at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Corsini is partners with Elisabeth Perez, who has been a producer on some of her projects. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992).
