Umed Singh
Umed Singh (5 October 1936 – 29 September 2006) was a politician from Rajasthan state, India. Singh was elected for a first five-year term as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Barmer district, Rajasthan, in 1962, on an Independent ticket. In 1980, he was elected for a second five-year term as MLA from Deedwana constituency on a Janata Party ticket. In 1985, he was elected for a third five-year term as MLA from Sheo Sheo or Shiv is a village in Barmer district of Rajasthan state of India. It is a tehsil headquarters. Barmer is a city and Municipal council (India), municipal council in the Barmer district in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Barmer district. The Janata Party ( JP, lit. ''People's Party'') was a political party that was founded as an amalgam of Indian political parties opposed to the Emergency that was imposed between 1975 and 1977 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of the Indian National Congress. In the 1977 general election, the party defeated the Congress and Janata leader Morarji Desai became the first non-Congress prime minister in independent modern India's history. Raj Narain, a socialist leader, had filed a legal writ alleging electoral malpractice against Indira Gandhi in 1971. On 12 June 1975, Allahabad High Court found her guilty of using corrupt electoral practices in her 1971 election victory over Narain in the Rae Bareli constituency. She was barred from contesting any election for the next six years. Barmer District
Barmer District is a district in Rajasthan state of India. It is located in the western part of Rajasthan state forming a part of the Thar Desert. Barmer is the third largest district by area in Rajasthan and fifth largest district in India. Occupying an area of 28,387 km2. Being in the western part of the state, it includes a part of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is to the north of this district while Jalore is in its south. Pali and Jodhpur form its eastern border and it shares a border with Pakistan in the west. Partially being a desert, this district has a large variation in temperature. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
